The cabin did start to smell a week into the stay because the toilet holding tank needed drained. We had family that rented both huts- (no electricity, not much airflow, tiny, can lock stuff inside, only beds, I would not stay in one), and cabins- (electricity, covered porch, room to keep stuff locked inside, your own bathroom). Walk around and you may find a few showers with makeshift shelters to get a little more privacy. This was okay but a bit chilly on those rainy days. The showers are outdoors from a pipe attached to a tree and not enclosed nor heated. I regularly saw the staff cleaning and appreciated it! On the weekends, busier times, it was hard to find a clean toilet or out house. I also noticed there was always toilet paper in the bathroom - Sharing helps everyone!! Especially when you are running in real quick from the beach and forget your own. We kept a regular supply of soap at the sink by our site for everyone.

We had family that chose to pay to leave after 7 and another person hoped to get out as well but the fee is per car and cash only! The campground staff keeps the toilets cleaned up fairly well, make sure you have your own toilet paper and soap to wash up at a nearby sink. (Our first time mistake was to rent too small of a car and we had to find a bigger one to fit all our luggage, in Honolulu, at the last minute.) Another note on the car - the gates close at 7pm!! You have to park by the office (limited space), if you get there later than 7 OR you can pay CASH only to have security come let you in (limited to one car per $20 bill). The office does have things for rent and to buy, if you don't want to haul everything to the island and rent a bigger car to get it all over there. Beautiful place to relax or to play in the waves! By far the beach is the highlight of staying here! Nothing compares to this! We are pro's at camping and were able to travel with our camping equipment on the airplane, however some family who met us there had some camping items taken away during air travel (TSA). :) There is a lot of drift wood and garbage especially on the windy/stormy days. Also, it is not a beach like you see in fancy resort pictures - no one comes down to clean up the debris that washes ashore. There is public parking and outside surf lessons that happen there during the day. It is nice to walk over to the beach and not see tons of people! It feels somewhat secluded. Check the website for pictures and descriptions. We went with a large group of family/friends for a reunion and we didn't stay all "together" so I was able to see a lot of different huts, cabins, tent locations. "Service" seemed better this time, employees were friendly and considerate! Check-in was easy and friendly maintenance/security people friendly and seen daily. Because of those other experiences, we tent camped this time. The first two times were both different camping experiences especially since there are always new buildings every time we stay. Absolutely beautiful! If you enjoy the beauty of nature, waking up to a beautiful sunrise, and the sounds of ocean waves crashing while you sleep- you must visit! I did not find them annoying at all, it added to the ambiance of the camp. The roosters do crow but only once or twice. The cats and chickens running around with their little baby chicks were adorable. We walked on the beach early mornings and had fun watching the crabs dig out their little houses and made sand piles on the beach. The beach was fairly empty and makes you feel like you are on a deserted tropical island. The location of the camp was great for day trips up north. Having an indoor bathroom and the extra room was well worth the extra cash. Get lots of firewood though the wind can kick up a bit at night. It was right on the beach with a small dune to block the wind. We all thought the view and sounds of the ocean all evening was well worth the stay! The next day we transferred to a Plantation Hale (S2). The gate locks at 7pm sharp so be sure to allow enough time to get back or you'll be walking to your site. We brought lights and charged our phones before camping.

It was better than a tent but was a little tight. We made reservations at the last minute so our first night was in a Hale (no electricity or toilet).
